Grammar LV1 — Day 1 — The Verb 'to be': am/is/are

Look at these three short sentences: 'I am a teacher.' 'You are my friend.' 'She is happy.' Every one uses a form of the verb 'to be' — am, is, or are. This is the single most useful verb in English, because you use it to describe people, things, feelings, and jobs every day.

Today's lesson has two parts. First, the subject pronouns — I, you, he, she, it, we, they — the small words we use instead of repeating a name. Second, which form of 'to be' matches each pronoun. Get this pattern solid today, because nearly every later lesson builds on it.
