Intermediate — Introduction — Welcome Back & What's New in Intermediate

Two weeks after finishing Elementary, Anna, Nok, and Somsak meet again at Anna's apartment. Nok has some exciting news. 'I've been offered a bigger role at work,' she says, 'but there will be meetings in English every week. I need to sound more natural.' Somsak nods. 'My company is sending me to inspect a new building site next month. I'll need to explain technical things clearly.'

Anna smiles. 'That's exactly what Intermediate is for. In Elementary, you learned past tenses, comparatives, modals, and present perfect. Now we'll go further: perfect continuous tenses, passive voice, reported speech, relative clauses, and conditionals for hypothetical and past situations. Sentences will get longer and more connected, but you're ready.'

'Will it be much harder?' Somsak asks. 'It's a bigger step than Beginner to Elementary was,' Anna admits, 'but you already have a strong foundation. We'll build on everything you know, one idea at a time, through real situations — like your new job, Nok, and your site visit, Somsak.'

Nok grins. 'Then let's start today.' Anna nods. 'Let's start today.'

Each lesson still follows the same pattern: a story, then the grammar explained clearly, new words, and a quiz. Welcome to Intermediate!
