Phonics — Day 1 — First Consonants: s, t, p, n, m

Today you'll learn five very common consonant sounds: /s/, /t/, /p/, /n/, /m/. Say each one out loud, focusing only on the SOUND, not the letter name:
/s/ — like a snake: sssss
/t/ — a light tap: t, t, t
/p/ — a little puff of air: p, p, p
/n/ — hum through your nose: nnnnn
/m/ — hum with closed lips: mmmmm

Now blend them with the short vowel sound /æ/ (like 'a' in 'cat') to make real words:
sat — s + a + t
tap — t + a + p
pan — p + a + n
man — m + a + n
nap — n + a + p

Try reading this: 'Pam sat. Pam has a nap.' You just read real English sentences using only 5 consonants and one vowel sound!

Today's Grammar

Blending: consonant + vowel + consonant (CVC) = a real word. s-a-t → sat.

sat แปลว่า นั่ง(อดีต) — ผสมจาก s + a + t
tap /tæp/ — t + a + p
tap แปลว่า เคาะเบาๆ — ผสมจาก t + a + p
pan /pæn/ — p + a + n
pan แปลว่า กระทะ — ผสมจาก p + a + n
man /mæn/ — m + a + n

nap /næp/ — n + a + p
